JAPAN, XIXth century. a heavy wakizashi blade shobuzukuri, iorimune, sakizori, jihada obscured, suguha hamon, slightly suriage nakago, mei: Soshu Kamakura no ju Kunihide and dated Kaei 3 [1850], in its aogai saya, the upper part nashiji, the aogai with tendrils of seaweed in black lacquer, and inlaid with seashells, silvered fuchi-kashira with leaves and tendrils in kebori, similar tsuba, koiguchi, uragawara and kozuka, the latter also with ho-o birds in gilt roundels, gilt dragon menuki, 19th century
