CHINE, Marque et possiblement d'époque Yongzheng
Boîte circulaire en cristal de roche
Sculpté en léger relief de motifs rappelant un tissus noué autour de la boîte ou possiblement un tronc d'arbre, on y distingue des éléments se rapprochants de masques de taotie. Une marque Yongzheng à quatre caractères dans un carré incisé en relief sur fond creusé sous la base. La pierre à ton translucide et absente de défauts ou inclusions.

CHINA, Yongzheng mark and possibly of the period. A rare flawless rock crystal circular box and cover with low relief design of wrapped textile or imitating a tree trunk. Yongzheng mark carved in relief in a square on a stippled ground at the base.
Rock crystal scholar's object carved of stone of such high purity are rare, comparison can be made in the Qing court collection, Beijing, illustrated in The Complete Treasures of the Palace Museum - Small Refined Articles of the Study, Shanghai, 2009, no. 92, a mountain-form brush rest; no. 266, two mountain-peaked seals; and no. 281, a square seal paste box.
Another article of flawless rock crystal in shape on an archaistic vase, bearing the same type of carved relief Qianlong mark and dated XVIIIth century presented by Christie's London, May 14th 2019, lot 83.
